Power is restored to thousands of homes in Minnesota and Wisconsin that were left without it due to weather conditions. Some homes still remained without power Saturday morning.

Xcel Energy says power was out to more than 60,000 homes.

Freezing rain, sleet and heavy, wet snow, combined with high winds, snapped trees branches and downed power lines as the storm moved through the region. Xcel says crews worked through the past few nights but were hampered by difficult weather conditions and poor roads.

In some rural areas, roads were impassable and closed.

Xcel Energy's Patti Nystuen tells KSTP.com the National Weather Service lost power at its office in Chanhassen overnight Thursday.

Nystuen said they had extra crews on staff working to fix the outages, roughly 800 workers. "We are working as quickly as we can to restore power to customers," she said Thursday night.

In Rochester, a transformer blew, causing a number of outages in the area..
