The Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis released nine new names Monday. It comes one day before a judge mandated deadline to release names of priests "credibly accused" of sex abuse since 2004.
The archdiocese says the nine new names are part of the clergy file review being undertaken.
Of the nine, the archdiocese says three are dead and all have been removed from the ministry.
The church says disclosures like this are consistent with Archbishop John Nienstedt's commitment to transparency.
However, attorneys representing sex abuse victims say Nienstedt could do much more if he truly wanted transparency.
Besides fighting the release of a list of priests accused since 2004, the archdiocese is also fighting a judge's order that Nienstedt testify regarding child sexual abuse.
