A northern Minnesota man is safe after being trapped under a pile of snow on Sunday.

Thirty-three-year-old Josh Toms of Hermantown was building a snow fort with his son Ian, when it collapsed. Ian saw it happen and thought his dad would stand up. When he didn't, Ian ran inside and called 9-1-1.

Toms said the weight of the snow made it impossible to move and it was difficult to breathe. He was rescued by two police officers.

Toms says he feels lucky to be alive. He says even though he's been building snow forts his entire life, he won't be building the forts any time soon.
