Police have canceled a crime alert involving a report of a woman attacked while jogging in Falcon Heights.

The report came on Monday, Jan. 13, after a woman said she was jogging near West Larpenteur Avenue and Snelling Avenue when a man reportedly grabbed her from behind.

The woman said she fought off the man and that he fled on foot.

During an investigation of the incident, St. Anthony Police learned that the man knew the woman and was trying to play a joke on her by grabbing her from behind. Police say the two hadn’t seen each other for a few months and that’s why the woman didn’t recognize him.

Police and the victim have since concluded that there was not criminal intent.
