The chief of the Minneapolis Police Department says she has made a decision regarding two officers involved in the incident involving racial slurs in Green Bay on June 29.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, the officers involved in the incident, Brian Thole and Shawn Powell, were informed of the decision Tuesday. When asked about the employment status of the officers, Cyndi Barrington with the Minneapolis Police Department replied "personnel leave."

Chief Janeé Harteau is not able to provide any further details at this time due to privacy laws, according to the Minneapolis Police Department.

A source tells KSTP's Jay Kolls that the two officers were fired.

Powell and Thole were caught on a dash camera in late June outside a Green Bay bar using racial slurs to refer to several black men they got into an altercation with; using an expletive when referring to the sexual orientation of Chief Harteau, who is openly gay; and disparaging the Green Bay police officers who responded to the incident, according to the videos and police reports.

Both officers were on paid administrative leave while under investigation by MPD’s Internal Affairs Unit.

At this point, additional details on Chef Harteau's decision have not been released.
