The St. Paul Police Department has released the names of the officers involved in the shooting of a suspect during a chase on Friday.
The officers have been identified as 6-year-veteran Darin McDonald and 4-year veteran Michael Tschida.
The incident started just after 5 p.m, when a St. Paul police officer stopped a vehicle near Front Avenue and Marion Street. Police say the vehicle took off during the traffic stop.
The chase lasted for about eight minutes and ended near the intersection of Front Avenue and Woodbridge Street.
The driver got out of the vehicle and officers on scene fired because they believed the suspect was armed, according to police. It is not known at this time exactly what caused the officers to fire, police reported.
The suspect suffered non-life threatening injuries and remains at Regions Hospital, according to police.
No officers were hurt during the incident.
A passenger in the vehicle was questioned by investigators.
The investigation is ongoing. More details are expected from police Monday afternoon at the earliest.
