Fans of America’s past time will be greeted with extra security in 2014.

All Major League Baseball ballparks, including Target Field, are expected to add walk-through metal detectors as part of their screening.

A league spokesperson says the plan is developing and will have more details for teams in December.

"It may not be something fans see in early April. It might be something that gets phased in over the course of the spring. It's just too early to tell what that plan would be right now but we'll make sure we do it the right way," said Kevin Smith of the Minnesota Twins.

The metal detectors come after the Boston Marathon bombings back in April.

Since then, a lot of stadiums have been stepping up security.

This year the Metrodome banned purses, backpacks and diaper bags. Instead, the fans have to use clear plastic bags, no larger than 12-by-12 inches.

Women are allowed to carry a clutch-sized bag.

Fans raise their arms as they pass through security outside Fenway Park before Game 6 of baseball's World Series between the Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals, in Boston.
