A person who police believe hit a 5-year-old boy in Oakdale and drove off has come forward, police say. At this point, they aren't releasing the person's name, and charges have not been filed.

The boy, Jakob Schafer, is in fair condition after the SUV hit him and then drove off Friday evening.

Jakob was outside "Pump It Up," a party venue for kids, when he was hit by the SUV. He was there for a school fundraiser.

Jakob was taken to the hospital with a broken femur and fractured pelvic bone, and they are testing to find out if he has any brain trauma.

His mother, Shellie Rowe, tells 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS they are hopeful Jakob will make a full recovery, but it will take quite some time. Jakob's family is with him at the hospital as he recovers.

At this point, additional details have not been released.
