A 5-year-old boy is in fair condition after an SUV hit him and then drove off Friday evening.
According to Oakdale Police, the boy was outside "Pump It Up," a party venue for kids. He was there for a school fundraiser.
They say a vehicle, described as a dark SUV, hit the boy. He was taken to the hospital.
The boy's family has identified him as Jakob Schafer. He has a broken femur and fractured pelvic bone, and they are testing to find out if he has any brain trauma.
His mother, Shellie Rowe, tells 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS they are hopeful Jakob will make a full recovery, but it will take quite some time. Jakob's family is with him at the hospital as he recovers.
Witnesses were unable to get the SUV's license plate number.
At this point, additional details have not been released. Oakdale Police would like anyone with information about this incident to contact them.
