A benefit was held on Sunday for a Minnesota Army recruiter who was dragged by an SUV for nearly a mile.

In September, KSTP first told you about Sergeant Michael Stroud and Travis Torgerson being hit by an SUV outside their office in Roseville.

Torgerson got caught on the SUV and was dragged against the pavement for 3/4 of a mile. He survived, but with serious injuries--including a broken leg, broken tailbone and several broken ribs.

Now, after a decade of service to his community he is the one in need.

A benefit was held at Calvary Church in Roseville from 12:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday. Contributions will go directly to the Torgerson family.

Police say the SUV that hit the sergeants was driven by 52-year-old Enrico Taylor.

Last week officials increased charges against him. Taylor is now charged with first and second degree assault, along with three counts of criminal vehicular operation.
