A southern Minnesota police chief is facing criminal charges.

After an investigation by the BCA, the Olmsted County Attorney's Office charged Brownsdale Police Chief Jason Mindrup with two counts of felony sexual misconduct.

According to the criminal complaint, on Aug. 31 an adult female was walking when Mindrup offered to give her a ride.

The woman claims Mindrup drove her two miles east of Waltham a got out of his truck, took off his clothes and sexually assaulted her. She says he then drove her to a nearby bar and left.

She called police when he left the bar.

During questioning, Mindrup denied the allegations. He said he gave the woman a ride because he was concerned for her safety.

When the woman wanted to go back to his residence, he says he drove her to the bar.

Mindrup has been on paid leave since early September.

KSTP-TV's sister station KAAL reached out to Mindrup for a comment. He has not responded.
