There was a scary situation for drivers Monday morning as a van hung over the concrete wall near eastbound I-94 and the Seventh Street bridge in St. Paul.
The van was parked at the First Baptist Church parking lot. Around 7:40 a.m. it rolled down an embankment and the chain link fence was strong enough to catch the van and keep it from crashing down onto I-94.
"Very scary," said Anthony, the man inside the van. "I went to sleep and then I bumped the gear."
Anthony said he had the van running with the heat on since it was so cold last night.
First Baptist Church lets Anthony and his two dogs sleep in his van in their parking lot.
Anthony was able to climb out of the van and call 9-1-1.
A tow truck hooked up the van and pulled it off the fence.
Animal control was called in to take the dogs.
The fence is owned by MnDOT. They sent a crew out this morning to reshape the fence, since it was bent a bit.
