A victory parade was held Monday for the Minnesota Lynx, the new WNBA champions. The team has won two WNBA Championships in the last three years.
The celebration for the Lynx began at 11:30 a.m. in Minneapolis. The team started at 12th Street and moved down Nicollet Avenue before turning onto Seventh Street and heading up First Avenue North.
At the parade Lindsay Whalen told KSTP's Brad Sattin, "It's nice to have two, it's definitely nice to have two. I think it puts us in more elite company with the history of the league and we all take a lot of pride in that. I'm just super excited today and really happy to be out here."
After the parade, fans were invited to join the Lynx Championship Celebration at Target Center for free.
The celebration included a video commemorating the Lynx season, and the players and coaches addressed the crowd.
Radio play-by-play announcer Alan Horton was the emcee for the event.
