The majority of vendors at the Minnesota State Fair are saying business is down due to the heat.

The Red Barn Root Beer stand says business is down a third from last year. Owner Richard Sunderland, who has been at the fair for 48 years, says the heat is turning people away.

It's the same story for Peterson's Chicken-n-Chops, where their business is down some days up to 60 percent. Owner Mike Peterson says in his 20 years at the fair, he's never had sales down.

Even the River Raft Ride, where fairgoers can cool off from the heat, is down about 10 percent. Everyone is blaming the heat.

This is setting up to be one of the hottest fairs on record, and even when it cools down this Sunday and Monday, vendors say that won't be enough time to make up the losses.
