A Mille Lacs Sheriff Deputy was arrested and charged with criminal sexual conduct of boys under the age of 13.
ABC affiliate WDAY reports 29-year-old Aaron Heuer is accused of inappropriately touching boys. Heuer is charged with eight counts of criminal sexual conduct with a person under the age of 13.
The alleged incidents occurred in June at Lutheran Island Camp where Heuer volunteers as a fishing guide, according to WDAY.
Four boys are allegedly victims in this case. The boys are between the ages of 8 and 10 years old.
Schan Sorkness, the camp's board chairman, said in a statement Tuesday that camp administrators were appalled by the allegations and "profoundly saddened" that campers could have been hurt by an adult in a trusted position.
The spiritual and physical wellbeing of our campers is our single most important priority. We are fully cooperating with the authorities on the ongoing investigation," Sorkness wrote. He said Heuer served as a guide at the camp from June 9 through June 21.
Heuer was placed on administrative leave. He has been with the Mille Lacs County sheriff's office for six years. His next court appearance is set for Aug. 5.
