We are learning more about the 56-year-old woman in Eden Prairie killed Friday night after a tree fell on her as she walked her dogs on a path.
Her family has identified her as Nina Mackay.
Her husband, who did not want to talk on camera, told KSTP his wife had a passion for her family, fitness and her dogs.
"We lost her doing the things shoe loved, exercising her dogs with a walk in the park," according to a statement released by the family.
A call came in at 5:21 p.m., reporting the sound of a tree falling and someone screaming.
Eden Prairie police and fire responded to the scene at a walking trail off Belfast Cove to find a woman pinned underneath a 90-year-old Basswood Tree, 30 inches in diameter, according to Public Information Officer Katie Beal.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner ruled Mackay's death an accident and said she died from multiple blunt force injuries.
Eden Prairie Parks and Recreation are still investigating why the tree fell. Officials say there was no sign the tree was rotting or diseased. Wind speeds were around 20 mph at the time of the incident, according to officials.
The tree was about 15 feet away from the walking trail.
