Twenty-four-year-old Trevor Langlois of Wyoming, Minn., died after he was hit by a truck June 17, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. He died from injuries June 22.

Witness Chaz Paulson told authorities that he recently bought a truck and was having problems with it June 17, so he pulled over onto the right shoulder at the end of the ramp southbound on Interstate 35, the complaint said.

Langlois pulled his to the shoulder behind Paulson, the complaint said. Langlois walked up to the driver side door to talk to Paulson. A vehicle then hit Langlois.

The vehicle briefly stopped and left the scene, the complaint said. A mirror belonging to a Ford F150 was left on the roadway.

Langlois was airlifted to a Duluth hospital, where he later died. His wife, Katie Langlois, said Trevor was a loving husband and father and a U.S. Army veteran.

A tip that a vehicle matching the description was found at a U.S. Bank in Bloomington.  Surveillance video later helped authorities track the vehicle to Sanders.

Sanders told authorities that he thought he hit a tree. He later said he was eating a sandwich "and was looking down or something" when the crash occurred, the complaint said. Sanders also said he had been drinking about half a dozen alcohol drinks that day.

Sanders said he didn't stop after the crash because he had been drinking, the complaint said.
