Family of Murdered Minn. Teen Raises Awareness for Domestic Violence

Family and friends gathered at benefit at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in North Saint Paul Sunday to remember 16-year-old Anna Hurd.

Police say Hurd was killed by her 17-year-old boyfriend after an argument in February. Anthony Mitchell has been charged with Hurd's murder.

Since her death, the Hurd family created 'Anna's Hope,' to offer change, and options for victims of domestic violence. Anna's mother, Jennifer Hutchings, says she wants to keep any other families from suffering the loss of a loved one to domestic violence, "I wanted to honor her life and raise awareness. Let her know people care about what happened to her."

Anna's Hope and The Dwelling Place Shelter joined together for the benefit to increase awareness of domestic violence, and help raise funds to expand The Dwelling Place Shelter's facility.
