Lawmakers Want More Money & Transparency from Vikings
Rep. Bob Barrett, a Republican from Lindstrom, is sponsoring a bill that would require the Vikings to pay an additional $200 million out of pocket.
Along with an NFL Loan, Barrett says the Vikings' billionaire owners could receive enough money from personal seat licenses and stadium naming rights they'd pay nothing out of pocket.
It's why Barrett's bill would require $200 million from the team and include language making any money received from personal seat licenses and stadium naming rights public.
The Vikings tell 5 Eyewitness News the team is not interested in changing the structure of the deal.
Analysts say while it may be legally possible for the state to alter the deal, it's not likely given everything else the legislature must accomplish this session.
