Warm March Sun Makes for Slippery Roads
Just because the roads look dry, doesn't mean they are.
Meteorologist Jonathon Yuhas says melted snow is running under shaded overpasses and onto suspended exit ramps where the temperatures are at or just below freezing.
The water then freezes back up and causes for some slippery conditions and glare ice in those areas. There have been some crashes and spin-outs because of it.
Yuhas says this is especially noticeable around downtown Minneapolis.
The ice will likely stick around until this evening when MNDot can get the areas treated with salt.
Drive carefully in these areas.
