Body Found in Towed Car at Columbia Heights Impound Lot

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office says a body was found in a vehicle that was towed to a Columbia Heights impound lot.

The vehicle was towed from an apartment complex in Brooklyn Park on Wednesday, Feb. 13, and the body was found Thursday, Feb. 21, at an impound lot on the 3800 block of Central Avenue Northeast.

Police say the apartment complex was working with a private towing company to move unauthorized vehicles, and the worker towing the car didn’t see the body at the time because it was hidden inside the passenger compartment.

Police believe the victim is an 18-year-old woman who lived in St. Paul, but she has not yet been identified.

The case is being investigated by the Brooklyn Park Police Department, the Columbia Heights Police Department, the St. Paul Police Department, the Anoka County Medical Examiner, and the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.
