Saint Paul Police Officer Dies from Medical Condition

Officer Josh Lynaugh of the St. Paul Police Department died early Saturday morning at Regions Hospital, according to the department. He was 30-years-old.

The department says that Officer Lynaugh died from medical complications that arose while he was on patrol February 8th.

No more information is available yet as to the nature of the call he was on or the medical condition he suffered from.

St. Paul Police Chief Tom Smith says that in his more than five years of service with the department, Officer Lynaugh earned 16 commendations and letters of recognition, including two Life Saving Awards.

Officer Lynaugh's father, Tim, is a retired St. Paul police sergeant.

Saint Paul Mayor Chris Coleman called the loss of Officer Lynaugh tragic, not only to those close to him, but to the City of Saint Paul.

Details of services for Officer Lynaugh are not yet available.
