Driver Charged in Fatal St. Paul Crash
A St. Paul man is facing charges after he crashed a car into a parked truck Friday morning, killing two passengers.
Teng Vang, 21, is charged with two counts of criminal vehicular homicide.
The crash happened just before 2:30 a.m. near the intersection of Hazelwood Street and Prosperity Avenue.
Four people were inside the car when it hit the back end of the truck, which was unoccupied.
According to St. Paul police, 28-year-old Chue Vue of St. Paul and 29-year-old Tou Vue of St. Paul died in the crash.
The criminal complaint says they were in the back seat of the car and had to be identified by their tattoos because of severe head injuries.
Vang and a front-seat passenger were taken to Regions Hospital to be treated.
The criminal complaint says officers noted the smell of alcohol on Vang. An investigator believes the car was being driven faster than the 30 mph speed limit and on the wrong side of the road.
The front-seat passenger told police he let Vang drive his car from a bar "where they had been drinking and celebrating Valentine's Day."
