How often does someone ask to go to prison? It's rare, but it happened Monday in Anoka County.
Aaron Schnagl told a judge, that's what he wanted for violating probation in a 2005 drug case.
Under the conditions of his parole, Schnagl was required to remain law abiding and not to use mood-altering chemicals.
A judge sentenced him to just under five years in prison, plus three years probation.
Schnagl faces another court hearing Tuesday on a different drug charge in Chisago County.
That's after police say they found marijuana and cocaine in his Chisago Lakes home while they were investigating a missing person report. Danielle Jelinek's family told police she disappeared Dec. 8. Schnagl, a friend, was the last person to see her.
Jelinek's family was in the Anoka courtroom Monday, to see and hear for themselves that Schnagl would be held responsible for something. Schnagl hasn't been arrested, charged or convicted for Jelinek's disappearance.
