Vacant Minneapolis School Could See New Life

A 90-year-old public school building in Minneapolis that's been vacant for years, could see new life.

Northrop School has been empty since 2005.

The school district had plans to turn it into senior housing, but those fell through when the housing market collapsed.

Now, there are two new plans.

The first would lease the building to a K- 5 charter school, with the south end becoming senior housing.

The second involves a charter school renovating the building, adding a new elementary wing and possibly a middle school later on.

The city says the property and building is worth about two and a half million dollars.
