Students Sent Home After Boiler Explosion at Mpls. School
Kids were evacuated from class Thursday after a boiler explosion at Lake Harriet Upper Elementary School in Minneapolis.
According to the Minneapolis Fire Department, the boiler explosion occurred around 12:30 p.m.
About 300 students were evacuated to a nearby fire station. The students returned to class after fire and building officials determined the situation safe and under control.
School officials made arrangements to send the students home for the remainder of the day while the heating system was evaluated.
Work is being done to either repair the boiler or see if a secondary boiler can be used.
No one was injured in this incident.
