Technology Helps Hennepin Co. Bring Life to Crime Scenes
New technology is helping everyone from juries to SWAT teams in Hennepin County.
It's called "Panascan" and it can bring a school, a courthouse, even a crime scene to life.
The camera scans a location at a 360-degree angle and it creates a floor-to-ceiling, 600 mega pixel image which allows you to zoom in and out and even pan across the room.
They've been using it to photograph crime scenes in the county for the past year. Now they are using it proactively by scanning public buildings so they know the layout inside and out in case there's ever an active shooter or barricade situation inside.
"You'd be able to see what's in the room, where the walls are, where the desks are prior to going in. It provides a huge advantage," said Sgt. Shane Magnuson with the Hennepin County Sheriff's Department.
