District Plans to Fix Growing Problem at Wayzata High School
Fast growing student enrollment is pushing Wayzata High School beyond its limits.
Since the district expects to add at least 500 students to its enrollment in the next 7 years, it's considering a major expansion of the high school.
The district wants to add 25 classrooms, along with additional space for the gym, lunchroom and music program.
The expansion would be added directly to the existing high school using land from the parking lot and the district may buy land from a nearby golf course.
Wayzata High is currently at its capacity with just over 3,200 students, expanding the school would require voter approval.
