St. Paul Man Receives Kidney from Stranger in Australia
It's a medical miracle in more ways than one.
Not only did St. Paul resident Don Holmes receive a kidney from a stranger at the Mayo Clinic this week, but that stranger came all the way from Australia to donate his kidney.
The two met through matchingdonors.com, and two months later, the surgery was a success.
Donor Anthony Parr says the decision couldn't have been easier in his eyes.
"I'm just an ordinary person, but I do have passions for certain things, and you have one chance, and if you don't put your talents to use, well, you've missed the chance," said Parr.
The two say they now have a lasting bond and both are expected to make full recoveries.
