Flu Outbreak Can Lead to Unhealthy Economy

When we're not healthy, neither is the economy.  The flu outbreak means that fewer people are out spending... and more employees are staying home.

Businesses are getting slammed with increased health care costs, widespread employee absences and something that's hard to quantify: decreased productivity.

During an average year, the flu typically costs U.S. businesses about $10.4 billion.

This year has been anything but average.  So far in Minnesota, 27 people have died... more than 1100 have been hospitalized.
