Hardy Minnesotans Take Icy Plunge

The below zero temperatures this morning didn't stop hundreds of Minnesotans from taking the plunge into 2013.

About 600 brave souls dove into Lake Minnetonka to raise money for the Semper Fi Fund and Wounded Warriors Project.

The "Ice Dive" is often a family tradition. 5 Eyewitness News reporter Tim Sherno and his 19 year old son Max jumped together this year. Tim has jumped more than 10 times, his son has jumped 5.  Dawn Twenge and her daughter Allison compete for the most plunges.

Bill Wenmark, the founder of Ice Dive, says the moment the divers get inside the water, it feels like a warm blanket.
