Ramsey County Sheriff: Stay Off the Ice

Ramsey County Sheriff, Matt Bostrom, is warning people that the ice on lakes and ponds is not yet safe.

That was proven this morning when three boys ages, 8, 11 and 12, fell through thin ice on a drainage pond in Little Canada.

Their father was able to quickly and safely get them out of the water but the boys were sent to Regions hospital as a precaution.

Also, in Otter Tail County, two men fell through the ice after ice fishing.

They were also able to get out safely and call 911 on their own.

Bostrom is asking parents to please talk with their children about winter safety and asking that people stay off the ice until it is safe.
