Apple Valley Fire Leaves at Least 7 Homeless

At least seven residents are homeless after an early-morning fire at an Apple Valley condo complex.

The cause of the of the fire is still under investigation, but fire officials say it started in a bottom unit at Valley Way Village on the 14000 block of Endicott Way.

A resident was burned during the fire and taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.  A firefighter was also hospitalized with minor injuries after being hit by falling debris.

In total, eight units are uninhabitable.  The Red Cross is helping those residents by putting them up in area hotels for the weekend.

One of the displaced residents says they made it out just in time.

"I couldn't see out the door so I just grabbed the railing, held my breath and ran downstairs," said Jeremy West.
