Downtown Mpls. Businesses Impacted by Orchestra Lockout

The financial impact of the lockout of musicians from the Minnesota Symphony Orchestra is having an impact beyond orchestra hall.

According to a Meet Minneapolis formula used to estimate the financial contribution of event-based guests, each missed orchestra performance prevents as much as $77,000 from being spend in the city.

Shane Higgins is the General Manager at Brit's Pub, he says Britt's misses its orchestra regulars, "Absolutely, they'll come in, say it's an 8 o'clock orchestra, 6 o'clock onwards you start seeing them, quarter to eight they're running across and hopefully we'll see them later around 10 o'clock."

Higgins says the canceled concerts have cost Britt's income, "It could be anything from $2000 to $5000 dollars."
