North Branch Vet Hospital Arson Suspect Arrested

Tips led to an arrest in a fire that North Branch police say was intentionally set at the North Branch Veterinary Hospital earlier this month.

Twenty-one-year old Ryan Ortlepp of North Branch was arrested for second degree arson. He is being held at the Chisago County Jail.

He also has previous charges dating back to 2010:

  • 1/24/2011 - Drugs - Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Use or Possession (Petty Misdemeanor) Convicted
  • 12/22/2010 - Drugs - Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Use or Possession (Petty Misdemeanor) Convicted
  • 11/10/2010 - Drugs - Possess/Sale Small Amount of Marijuana - No Remuneration (Petty Misdemeanor)Convicted 

Five dogs and a cat were rescued without injury after the Nov. 4 fire. Authorities offered an award of up to $2,500.
   
Ortelpp faces up to 10 years in prison.
