Cell Phone App Designed to Help Teen Drivers, Inform Parents

Having the cell phone in your car might help you, rather than distract you.

An app called DriveScribe was created for teens and their parents by a Minneapolis company.

It can track the speed of the driver and other potential driving violations.

Parents of the driver can opt to be informed of any violations by email or text. The app also blocks all texts and phone calls while the car is moving.

There's something in it for the teen drivers too: they are awarded points for trips that are free of violations.

The app will track the points which can be cashed in for gift cards and other incentives.
