5,000 Pounds of Pork Dropped Off at Food Shelf
A giant donation is delivered to Second Harvest Heartland today.
The Minnesota Pork Board dropped off 5,000 pounds of pork.
The pork is individually wrapped in one pound packages, and can feed a family of four.
Today's donation will help feed 20,000 neighbors in need.
This donation is unique, because unlike boxed or canned food, it offers a lot of protein and nutrients to families in need.
This year's donation by the Minnesota Pork Board is double what they gave last year. It's worth about $15,000 market value.
Second Harvest Heartland distributes food to more than 1,000 food banks.
They should get this new stock of pork by tomorrow, meaning families may be able to cook with it by dinner time tomorrow.
