Richfield Man Dies after Canoe Capsizes on Snelling Lake

A Richfield man rescued from Snelling Lake in St. Paul has died.

According to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, two men were fishing when their canoe capsized Friday morning.

One man swam to shore, while the other struggled in the water.

Firefighters in a boat rescued the man from the lake.

Both men were taken to United Hospital in St. Paul. The man who swam to shore was treated and released.

The other man was in critical condition. He died at the hospital Friday evening. His name has not been released.

The sheriff's office is investigating the incident.
