EmailWind-Fed Fire Damaged Three Lakefront Homes in Mahtomedi
Three waterfront homes abutting White Bear Lake in Mahtomedi are damaged by fire.
The flames started in one home, then spread to two neighboring houses on either side. Fire officials say strong winds quickened the spread. The central home is a total loss, while the second and third home suffered substantial damage.
The homes are located on Park Avenue near Crocus Street.
Firefighters say it took a crew of approximately 100 from seven agencies to extinguish the flames.
The owners of the home where the fire originated were away when the fire started. As a result, the fire went unreported until it was spotted from across the lake.
The occupants of the other homes escaped unharmed.
The Red Cross is assisting the families displaced.
