4 Killed, 1 Injured in Pickup-Semi Collision in Pine County

A crash in Pine County has left four people dead and one person seriously injured.

The Pine County Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday near Askov. Authorities say a pickup with five passengers tried to make a left turn onto Clark Road from Rutabaga Road in front of a semi truck.

A 17-year-old girl, a 21-year-old man, and 58-year-old man were dead at the scene. Another 20-year-old woman was airlifted and later died at the hospital. A 21-year-old man is in serious condition.

The 50-year-old driver of the semi truck wasn't injured.

Chief Deputy Steven Blackwell says some of the victims are related and some are boyfriends or girlfriends. Blackwell says at least three of the victims were in the cab of the pickup and one or two people were in the bed when the driver turned in front of the semi at an intersection Tuesday evening.

The crash is under investigation.
