Forest Lake Firefighters Rescue Horse Stuck in Pool
A Forest Lake homeowner was surprised to find an unexpected guest "horsing around" in her backyard pool this week.
A horse, which belonged to a neighbor, broke through a fence and fell through the pool cover. There was about three feet of water in he pool at the time. The Forest Lake Fire Department used one of its trucks with a boom to lift the 1,000-pound horse out of the pool to safety.
Dr. Kirsten Frederickson with Sunrise Equine Veterinary sedated the horse before it was lifted.
"It went like clockwork. We lifted her up and she didn't struggle at all. We set her down and it only took a minute or two," she said.
The horse is unharmed, and was returned to her owner.
