State Fair Ride Stalls, Stranding 24 Riders
The Stratosphere Swing Tower at the Minnesota State Fair was stuck, leaving fairgoers stranded high above the ground.
The incident happened around 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
Fair officials tell KSTP a small latch was caught, causing the stall. The ride looks like a tall tower, with swings hanging from branch-like extensions. The seats go up and down while the tower spins.
Two dozen riders were stuck on the ride, 100 feet above the ground for about 45 minutes.
Crews were sent up to fix the ride. It was eventually lowered, safely bringing fairgoers to the ground.
No one was injured in this incident. Fair officials say the ride is safe, and it's back up and running.
The Stratosphere Swing Tower is a new ride at the fair this year and reaches 190 feet into the air.
