Minn. National Guard Soldier with Cancer Receives High Honor
A Minnesota National Guard soldier who is dying of cancer received a high honor in Rosemount Thursday.
Lt. Col. Mark Weber was awarded the Legion of Merit medal for outstanding service to the military and to the nation.
The medal was awarded by Gen. Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Washington, D.C. He's the highest ranking military officer in the country.
Lt. Col. Weber took a moment to thank his wife, whom he calls a true hero.
Weber is a father of three who was diagnosed with advanced cancer two years ago just before he was supposed to deploy to Afghanistan.
