Maplewood Man Charged in Killing of 19-Year-Old Answering Craigslist Ad

A 26-year-old Maplewood man was charged in the shooting death of a 19-year-old St. Paul man who had responded to a Craigslist ad.

According to the Ramsey County Attorney's Office, Steven Lewis was charged with one count of murder in the second degree, and one count of aggravated robbery in connection to the death of 19-year-old Aung Thu Bo.

According to the criminal complaint, Bo and his girlfriend met the seller in a public place last Friday afternoon to buy a smartphone. The man asked them to drive him to his house to get the phone.

While Lewis was in the backseat he allegedly pulled out a gun and said, "Give me what you got." Bo said, "Take anything you want, just leave us alone and go."

Lewis leaned forward to search Bo's pockets while holding a gun to his head. The gun went off, and Bo slumped forward.

Bo was taken to the hospital, where he later died. His girlfriend was unharmed.

Lewis was later arrested. His bail recommendation is set at $500,000.
