Police to Increase Patrols During Sikh Vigil
Police will increase patrols during a vigil at the Sikh Society of Minnesota, however police will not be welcome inside the Bloomington temple during the special worship service.
Between 300-400 people are expected to attend an inter-faith worship service Friday night at 7:30. The service is in honor of those impacted by the recent attack on a Sikh temple in Wisconsin.
Christians, jews, and muslims are expected to attend. Organizers say some have reached out and warned of a possible copycat attack mirroring the one at a Wisconsin Sikh temple earlier this week.
Organizers say they're not concerned though and Bloomington police say they are not aware of any specific threats.
Police have discussed security measures with the temple and will increase their presence in the area Friday night but will not be inside the temple. Service organizers appreciate the concern but say having police inside may alarm people and distract from the service.
Besides a service, a candle light vigil and minute of silence will be observed in honor of the lives lost in Wisconsin.
