Science Could Explain 7 Babies Born to 7 Hastings Neighbors

Seven families are having seven babies all within seven months of each other, and they all live in seven homes abutting each other in Hastings.

Amanda Caveness gave birth to baby Alex on June 28, then Erica Kunert gave birth to baby Graham on July 29. By February, five other neighborhood moms will have given birth to babies too.

The expectant mothers wonder what's behind the coincidence. Caveness joked "I think there's something in the water here."

We decided to research the matter. Dr. Virgina Lupo, head of obstetrics and gynecology at Hennepin County Medical Center told us that there could be a scientific explanation. Lupo said, "It definitely is known that women who live together cycle together. In a sorority a lot of girls will cycle together, so its sure possible they could get pregnant at the same time. There may be something with the pineal glad. We're not sure, but there's definitely some kind of hormonal communication going on"
