MN Catholic Community Mourns Nun Fatally Hit by Car
The Catholic community is mourning the loss of a long-time teacher and nun who died after being hit by a truck in St. Paul.
Ann Thompson, Communication Director for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, tells KSTP 85-year-old Sister Mary Beneva Schulte, CSJ died at Regions Hospital Monday afternoon.
According to authorities a pedestrian, later identified as Sister Mary, was hit by a truck Monday at Cretin Avenue and Highland Parkway in St. Paul.
Sister Mary was taken to Regions Hospital where she died around 1:45 p.m.
St. Paul Police say speed and alcohol were not factors in this crash.
Sister Mary was born in Minneapolis in 1926. She graduated from the College of St. Catherine with a BA in English/Education. She taught in many Twin Cities area Catholic grade schools. She retired in 2008.
She's being remembered as a quiet, hard-working woman who dedicated her life to God and to teaching.
