Ahead of Boy's Birthday, Mother Asks Killer to Come Forward
Terrell Mayes would have celebrated his fourth birthday this Sunday had he not been killed by a stray bullet seven months ago.
The killer has not been identified.
Mayes was 3 years old when the stray bullet struck him in the head inside his North Minneapolis home last December.
On Sunday, his mother is throwing a party in honor of what would have been his fourth birthday. Invitations have been passed out in the North Minneapolis neighborhood where Terrell died.
However, there is one invitation left. It's reserved for the person who shot Terrell.
Terrell's mother says the killer is welcome to come to the party. She's asking that he or she bring the gift of closure, though. The Mayes family is calling on the killer to turn him or herself in to police.
Police are investigating leads, though the Mayes family says none appear very promising.
