Suspected Parasite Closes Lake Elmo Swimming Pond

A swimming pond at Lake Elmo Park Reserve is currently closed due to a suspected parasite.

The man-made pond closed after health officials received four reports of swimmers with Cryptosporidium infections.

It's unclear if the swimmers picked up the infection from the swimming pond.

The pond is chlorinated and tested several times a day.

As a precaution, crews are working to treat the water by adding higher levels of chlorine.

According to the Mayo Clinic, the main symptom of Cryptosporidium is diarrhea. Click here to read a full list of symptoms.
