Police: Head-on Crash in Blaine Sends 7 to Hospital

Seven people were hospitalized Thursday after a three-vehicle crash in Blaine.

The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. on Radisson Road near Tournament Players Parkway and involved a Nissan Armada, Mercury Cougar, and Chevrolet Equinox.

Police believe the Mercury Cougar was driving south on Radisson Road when it crossed over the center median and hit the Nissan Armada head-on. The Chevrolet Equinox was behind the Nissan Armada and then hit the driver’s side of the Nissan.

Police believe speed was also a factor.

A woman from Oak Grove, who was the driver of the Nissan Armada, was taken to Unity Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police. The driver of the Chevrolet Equinox, a woman from Ham Lake, was taken to St. John’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Those in the Mercury Cougar included two adult women from Coon Rapids, an adult woman from Blaine, and two juvenile boys from Blaine. Police believe all of the passengers in the Mercury Cougar were taken to HCMC with serious injuries, except for the driver.

First responders worked for about 40 minutes to rescue the driver of the Mercury. She was flown to North Memorial Medical Center after crews extricated her from the vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation. Those assisting included the Blaine Police Department, the Spring Lake Park-Blaine-Mounds View Fire Department, Allina paramedics, and North Memorial paramedics.
